Our Services

Contact Lenses:
Whether you’ve never worn lenses before, or perhaps tried a few years ago, wouldn’t you like the chance to experience the freedom and comfort that modern contact lenses offer? Why not ask to try a pair of the very latest lenses? We have many hundreds of happy lens wearers aged from under 8 to over 80, some of whom wear lenses full time and some just socially or for sports etc.

We offer a free initial trial to anyone wishing to try contact lenses, so what have you got to lose, apart from maybe your glasses?

Soft Lenses:
Soft Contact Lenses are very easy to adapt to and extremely comfortable to wear. Disposable lenses deal effectively with the problems of material wear and lens deposits, simply by disposing of the lenses on a planned regular basis. We supply daily, two weekly, monthly and three monthly options as well as durable lenses. Daily Disposable lenses are available to suit around 75% of single vision prescriptions. If you are out of the range currently available, there may well be a monthly, two weekly or weekly lens to suit you. The cost of these lenses continues to fall as they gain popularity, and prices are now well under £1.00 per day for full time users.

Continuous Wear Lenses:
Silicone-Hydrogel lenses offer unparalleled levels of safety for continuous wear of up to 30 days and nights. If you would like more information on these lenses, please call the practice or send us an e-mail.

Multifocal Lenses:
If you need lenses to see well at a variety of distances, there are several recent developments in the Multifocal Contact Lens field that may help you. These are available as monthly soft lenses and as RGP (Rigid gas Permeable) lenses.

Coloured Soft Lenses
These are available in a disposable format or as a more durable lens. Ciba manufacture a huge range of coloured lenses, but we also deal with other suppliers.

Soft Lenses For Astigmatism
If you have astigmatism there are a number of monthly soft toric lenses available, as well as daily & two weekly. There are several manufacturers that can provide us with custom soft toric lenses on a three or six monthly planned replacement scheme. Even Multifocals are now available in some designs.

Rigid Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses
RGP lenses look very much like the original hard corneal lenses first fitted around fifty years ago, but that is where the similarities end. RGP materials allow oxygen to pass through the material to the cornea, and although soft lenses do this too, the best RGP lenses allow a greater flow of oxygen to the cornea than many soft lenses. RGP lenses may give a better standard of vision than soft lenses if there is more than 0.50D of astigmatism in the prescription, and offer a less expensive alternative to soft torics, or may even attain a better standard of vision than soft torics.
Historically, there is a lower incidence of infection problems with RGP wearers compared to soft lens wearers, although these comparisons were made before the days of daily disposable soft lenses which have a fairly unblemished track record. RGP lenses are available in bifocal and multifocal forms, and as toric lenses if there are very large amounts of astigmatism. If you would like more information about contact lenses of any type, please talk to us. As independent opticians we have the freedom to offer the products which we feel will most benefit the individual patients we see.
We do not use “own-brand” products to increase profitability and restrict choice. We use what's right for you.

Orthokeratology
OrthoK is an amazing way of reshaping your cornea whilst you sleep, such that you'll be able to see well all day without the need for glasses or contact lenses. Sounds too good to be true? It's only suitable for a limited range of prescriptions, but if it could work for you, it's what you might call a Dream Lens (!). Please contact us for more information or click this link www.orthoklenses.com. We offer a free initial consultation to discuss OrthoK suitability. We just require an up to date Spectacle Prescription.

Spectacle Lenses:
As independent practitioners we are not limited to which suppliers we can use, as a result we can source most products. Our main suppliers are Essilor, Hoya and Seiko, but we use lenses by Zeiss, Rodenstock and Kodak too. A full range of specialist coatings and treatments are offered, including Reflection Free, Transitions (variable tint), tinted and polarised lenses. Please ask about our comprehensive range of thinner and lighter lenses. We are able to calculate lens thicknesses before you order to guarantee a successful outcome, and we have a demonstrator kit for Varilux and bifocal lenses, so you can try before you buy. Please call in, we will be happy to discuss your lens requirements.

Frames:
Both practices stock over 700 styles, including well known brands such as Prada, Armani, D&G, Versace, Gucci, Adidas, Nike and Playboy. Hugo Boss, Ted Baker, Lulu Guinness and Ben Sherman are recent additions to our ranges. We also have several ranges where the style and workmanship speaks for itself, and the assurance of quality that a well known brand gives is quite unnecessary. We also carry a large range of Economy, Fashion and Traditional frames too, and a growing range of Titanium frames. We are confident that we have something to suit all tastes and budgets.

Rimless eyewear is still a popular choice, and this is an area of speciality for us. Advice on the best choice of lens material, lens shape and mount types for each individual prescription is available, and our rimless eyewear is manufactured using the latest CNC technology and assembled locally by our rimless glazing specialist.
